How to Make Pesto

Summer is almost over, however you can still take advantage of the fresh flavors that this amazing season offers, and pesto is a traditional italian sauce that brings together the best summer ingredients. For this reason at Great Harvest in Kalispell we would like to share a simple recipe to prepare this delicious sauce.

Ingredients

1 cup fresh basil leaves 
1 clove garlic 
1/4 cup pine nuts 
1/2 cup olive oil 
1/2 cup freshly grated Pecorino cheese 
Kosher salt

Preparation

Put the basil leaves and pine nuts in your food processor and chop them. While your appliance is still running, add the olive oil, garlic and cheese and blend until smooth. Remember to use a spatula to scrape down the sides of your food processor.

Serving

Don't forget that you can season your pesto with salt and use it on your pasta or baked potatoes during your summer barbecue. Keep in mind that you can also use almonds instead of pine nuts.
